Attorney James L. Frederick is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Texas Law School. For the first seven years of his legal career he worked as a legal aid attorney for the University of Tennessee Law School Legal Aid Clinic and then as a managing attorney with Southeastern Massachusetts Legal Aid Corporation in Brockton, Massachusetts. Mr. Frederick then transitioned to a more active trial practice as an Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County in Lowell and Somerville. From there he went to work for the insurance defense firm of Gallagher and Gallagher, where he defended and tried a wide variety of civil personal injury cases.
In 1994 he formed his own practice in Brookline, Massachusetts which focused on the defense of premises liability, construction accidents and liquor liability. He also maintained a criminal defense practice. In 2003 he joined Victor Koufman to form Koufman & Frederick, LLP. Mr. Frederick has tried 40 or more civil Superior Court jury trials to verdict. He has also tried personal injury cases to verdict in Federal District Court and argued cases before the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, he has tried many District Court civil and criminal jury trials and Superior Court criminal jury trials to verdict. He enjoys strategizing and preparing cases for trial and the give and take of the courtroom. Mr. Frederick is now Of-Counsel to KLG.
